Bazia was born in 1971, the second son of the Lou tribal chief in Sudan (now considered South Sudan). He arrived in the US in 1999 and in Maine two and a half years ago. Since arriving he has co-authored three books with his friend Ann Smith, including Chocolate Boy. He does many other things in the community including mentoring with Bright Future, running Project Bazia for the young people of the Sudanese diaspora, and more. Bazia dreams big and encourages others to do the same.
