Pious Ali was born and raised in Ghana where he worked as a photojournalist. He has lived in Portland for the past ten years. His work has been varied but has almost always included engaging youth and creating dialogue across cultural, socioeconomic, and faith-based groups. He is the founder of Maine Interfaith Youth Alliance and the first African-born member of the School Board for the Portland Public Schools.
