142 Tarlan Ahmadov

5/28/2017

Picture
Tarlan Ahmadov is originally from Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and on this day 99 years ago they established their independence, becoming the first Muslim state to give women the right to vote.
Operated through Catholic Charities of  Maine, Tarlan is the State Refugee Coordinator.
Not only does he outline the new organization of Refugee Services in this state, but he also defines who refugees are and why resettlement is so important to Maine, in particular.
Tarlan also offers a quick preview of the upcoming World Refugee Day events in Lewiston and Portland (FMI: visit the show's facebook page).
Finally, he highlights several things you can do if you wish to support refugees in Maine:
 - Donate to Catholic Charities of Maine's Refugee and Imigration Services.
 - Advocate for low income housing
 - Support refugee run businesses
 - Vote for New Mainer interests
 - Volunteer with Catholic Charities

(Tarlan was interviewed previously on 9/28/14.  To hear that show: NMS 31).
