Tania Blas moved to South Portland, ME from Peru in 2006. She and her husband are both Systems Engineers and came here to join family. They are raising three school-aged children and running their own computer service and repair business called Informatics Services, Home and Business. She also teaches computer classes in the community.
Victoria Chicon was raised in Lima, Peru, the daughter of a Chinese father and Peruvian mother. She worked as a filmmaker, editor, and instructor before immigrating to the US in 1998. In Maine she has helped to raise her grandchildren, worked in hospitality, volunteered at community radio and community TV stations and teaches Spanish to elementary school students. Victoria passionately advocates for members of the Latin community in Portland, ME and can be heard weekly on WMPG (90.9FM) Sundays from 12:30-2PM on her Spanish music and information program called Cruz del Sur, or you can stream it live from www.wmpg.org.

Feb 24, 2019 This will be a special one hour show to celebrate the 200th edition of New Mainers Speak. A panel including Stela Markova and Eric Castel will be discussing workforce development Sunday the 24th at noon on WMPG.org (90.FM in Southern Maine).
