Lazaro was raised in Jaimanitas, a modest neighborhood in Havana, Cuba. He was a very active child and who found a lifelong passion when his mother introduced him to dance at eleven years old. After completing college and working as a teacher, Lazaro moved to St. Petersburg, Russia. There he taught Latin dance for two years before moving to Maine with his fiance in 2014.
Lazaro and Anna (NMS 098) opened their dance studio last year where they offer weekly Bachata and Salsa lessons. Danza Latina is located at 108 High St., in Portland, ME. Lazaro speaks eloquently about the joy he feels while dancing and his motivation to share this freedom, happiness, and connection with others here in Maine.
