Jan Pieter was born at the end of WWII in Holland. He was trained as a merchant marine and worked in that field prior to moving to Maine. Since 1970 he has lived with his wife in Pownal, Maine, where they raised their children. Jan Pieter balanced his work life (transportation and logistics executive for Shaw's) with his creative life through his photography (click here to view his website gallery).
Jan Pieter was the portrait photographer for the 2009 book called New Mainers. And his work is currently being displayed as part of the Maine Historical Society's exhibit: 400 Years of New Mainers. (Show open through May, 2016).
