Ali and his wife and three children arrived in Portland, ME nearly a year ago. On this show Ali shares his observations about his family's first year in America around the topics of safety, schools, and culture.
Prior to leaving Iraq Ali was a news producer and reporter for ABC's Baghdad Bureau and most recently the Public Information Officer for the United Nations. Here he translates Arabic and has been a guest in many different settings both as an expert in Iraq and as an immigrant. Ali continues to work toward resuming his career in journalism as he and his family apply for green cards.
