Malual is from South Sudan and trained to be an internal medicine physician in Sudan, UK and Jordan before returning home to practice tropical medicine for "the least, the last and the lost."
In 2009 Malual joined his beloved wife here in Maine, became a naturalized citizen in 2013, and voted for the first time in his life in 2014.
He is now serving on the board of the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project (ILAP), a state-wide non-profit that helps 3,000 immigrants a year with comprehensive legal aid. ILAP's annual gala event called CeleSoiree is Friday, March 27th.
